A new controversy has arisen after Congress Dalit leader and Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Tika Ram Jully visited the Prana Pratishtha ceremony of a Ram temple organized on the occasion of Ram Navami in Alwar district of Rajasthan. Former MLA and BJP leader Gyandev Ahuja expressed strong objection to Tika Ram Jully's visit to the temple and purified the temple by sprinkling Gangajal.
Gangajal was sprinkled because impure people came: Gyandev Ahuja
Senior BJP leader Gyandev Ahuja alleged that Julie is against Sanatan and Hindutva and should not have been invited to the Ram temple program. He said, "He should be ashamed. He should cut his nose and drown it in water." He also said that he would go and purify the temple with Gangajal the next day because impure feet were placed there.
On Monday, Gyandev Ahuja indeed reached the temple and sprinkled Gangajal. He told the media, "There was some anomaly in the temple because people who deny the existence of Lord Ram were invited there. These people are sinners, have demonic tendencies.”
An action promoting a crime like untouchability
Reacting sharply to this statement and action, Tika Ram Jully said, "This action of the BJP leader exposes their anti-Dalit mentality. This is not just an attack on my personal belief, but an action promoting a crime like untouchability."
He raised the question, "Does the BJP hate Dalits so much that it cannot even see them worshipping? Does God belong only to BJP leaders?"
Tika Ram Jully also said that he has been continuously raising the voice of Dalits in the Assembly and now a protest will be organized by the Congress at the district level regarding this matter.
This incident reflects the narrow thinking of the BJP: Gehlot
Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said that this incident reflects the narrow thinking of the BJP. He questioned whether Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and BJP State President Madan Rathore agree with this shameful statement?
Congress State President Govind Singh Dotasara said that the BJP's heart is filled with hatred, jealousy and disgust for Dalits. This behavior is unacceptable in a civilized society of the 21st century.
However, the BJP has distanced itself from its leader in this entire episode. Party spokesperson Laxmikant Bhardwaj said that the BJP does not believe in such a mentality. This is the personal opinion of Gyandev Ahuja, the party has nothing to do with it.
