Vehicles older than prescribed limit will now not get petrol or diesel in Delhi, what is ANPR system installed at 454 fuel stations

To curb air pollution in the capital Delhi, the Delhi government is finalizing a new plan. Now vehicles older than the prescribed limit will not get petrol or diesel in the city. For this, Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system has been installed at 454 out of 477 fuel stations, which will detect how old the vehicle is.

Equipment will be installed at remaining 23 stations

A senior official of the Environment Department told media, "So far 372 petrol pumps and 105 CNG stations have been equipped with this technology. Equipment will be installed at the remaining 23 stations in the next 10 to 15 days. We hope that this scheme will be fully implemented by the end of April."

Actually, this policy was to be implemented from April 1, but it got delayed due to some technical hurdles and delay in installation of equipment.

The Environment Department said that Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa are constantly monitoring the progress of this scheme. Sirsa said, "The government is working day and night to implement the scheme on time. However, due to the remaining work, a little wait may be required."

ANPR cameras are being installed

The Delhi government had announced in March that diesel vehicles older than 10 years and petrol vehicles older than 15 years will not get fuel. For this, ANPR cameras are being installed, which will scan the number plate of the vehicle and check its registration.

There are a total of 500 fuel stations in the entire city and the government plans to activate this system at all stations. This step has been taken to control the rising pollution level of Delhi, so that people can get clean air and the health of the environment improves.
