Amid fears of war with Pakistan, Indian Navy increases its strength at sea manifold, tests indigenous MIGM missile


Amid fears of war with Pakistan, the Indian Navy has increased its strength at sea manifold. On Monday, the Navy, in collaboration with the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), successfully tested the Multi-Influence Ground Mine (MIGM) missile developed with indigenous technology. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has congratulated DRDO and Navy on the successful test of Multi-Influence Ground Mine.


The system is an advanced underwater naval mine developed by the Naval Science & Technological Laboratory, Visakhapatnam in collaboration with other DRDO laboratories - High Energy Materials Research Laboratory, Pune and Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory, Chandigarh.


MIGM is designed to enhance the Indian Navy's capabilities against modern stealth ships and submarines. Bharat Dynamics Limited, Visakhapatnam and Apollo Microsystems Limited, Hyderabad are the production partners for the system.


Complimenting DRDO, Indian Navy and the Industry, Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh stated that the system will further enhance undersea warfare capabilities of the Indian Navy.


Secretary, Department of Defence R&D and Chairman DRDO Dr Samir V Kamat said, with this validation trial, the system is now ready for induction into the Indian Navy.


Defense Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the Indian Navy and DRDO on this successful test. The Defense Minister posted on the social media platform X and said, 'Indian Navy and DRDO successfully tested the indigenously designed and developed Multi-Influence Ground Mine. I congratulate DRDO and Indian Navy for this achievement. This system will increase the strength of the Indian Navy.'


The @DRDO_India and @indiannavy successfully undertook combat firing (with reduced explosive) of the indigenously designed and developed Multi-Influence Ground Mine (MIGM).

Before the missile test was conducted by India, Pakistan also tested its Fatah missile on Monday. Pakistan tested its Fateh series surface-to-surface missile. The range of this missile is 120 km.
