The Home Ministry of the Government of India has instructed all states and union territories to conduct mock drills on May 7. It is being considered very important amid the ever-increasing tension between India and Pakistan after the attack in Pahalgam.
The government has instructed to practice and rehearse civil defense in 244 listed civil defense districts across the country.
In fact, in mock drills, it is seen how people react in an emergency situation, for which selected people, volunteers are also given training.
Usually mock drills are conducted to know what kind of preparation is there for an emergency situation like an attack, accident or arson.
According to the letter of the Home Ministry, the mock drill on May 7 will be conducted from city to rural level.
Many types of exercises will be done in this mock drill. These include knowing how effective the air raid warning is, observing the working of the control room, training common people and students to work during attacks.
People may be instructed to switch off all the lights
During this period, people may be instructed to switch off all the lights of their homes or institutions for some time.
In this mock drill, it can also be seen what measures can be taken if the lights go off completely.
Apart from this, it also includes the response of civil defence in an emergency situation, training to evacuate people safely from a particular place, etc.
According to this instruction, participation of the District Controller, different officers of the district, volunteers of civil defence, home guards, NCC, volunteers of National Service Scheme (NSS), Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan and students of schools and colleges is expected in the mock drill.
