Amid fears of war with Pakistan, India will get the warship Tamal from Russia this month. Russia will hand it over to the Indian Navy on May 28.
According to media reports, it will be officially inducted into the Navy in June. This warship will be equipped with Brahmos missile, which will not be detected by the radar.
The new 3,900-tonne frigate, which will be commissioned as INS Tamal, is expected to be handed over to the Indian Navy in Kaliningrad after completing all critical testing, including weapon fire, in about a month.
Pakistan's National Assembly is meeting again
Meanwhile, Pakistan's National Assembly is meeting again today (on Tuesday, May 6). In this meeting, the growing tension between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam attack will be discussed.
Apart from this, the situation created by India's announcement of suspension of Indus Water Treaty will also be discussed.
Earlier, in the session held on Monday, Pakistan's National Assembly condemned all forms of terrorism and emphasized that killing of innocent civilians is against the values of Pakistan.
On Monday, the United Nations Security Council also held a closed-door meeting on India-Pakistan tension. In this meeting, the ambassadors appealed for restraint and dialogue.
This meeting of the Security Council lasted for about one and a half hours, although no statement was issued by the council after the meeting.
Pakistan violates ceasefire for 12th consecutive day
Meanwhile, Pakistan has violated the ceasefire for the 12th consecutive day. The Pakistani Army fired at eight places around the LoC on the night of May 5-6 in Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Rajouri, Mendhar, Naushera, Sunderbani and Akhnoor areas. The Indian Army responded to Pakistan firing.
Earlier, Pakistan's Defence Minister Khawaja Asif claimed that India can take military action on the Line of Control (LoC) at any time. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is pushing the region to the brink of nuclear war for political gains.
On the other hand, the high-level meeting of the Home Ministry has started regarding the Civil Defense Mock Drill. The central government has asked to conduct mock drills in 244 districts of the country on May 7. In this, citizens will be trained to protect themselves during an attack. Sirens warning of air raids will be sounded.
Tensions are increasing between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam attack on April 22. In this attack, 26 tourists were killed in terrorist firing.
