Is there any hope of a deal in trade war between China and America?

There are hopes of a deal in the trade war between China and America. Recently the spokesperson of China's Commerce Ministry announced that his country is exploring the possibilities of negotiating with America on tariffs.

This was the news the whole world had been waiting for because tariff rates on some goods arriving from China to America have reached 245 percent.

This situation has destroyed trade between the world's two big economies. It has also created the risk of recession.

The spokesperson of China's Commerce Ministry told journalists, "American officials have expressed their desire to negotiate with China on tariffs several times."

'Door is open for talks'

He said, "China's old stance on the question of tariffs remains unchanged. But if anyone wants to talk, the door is open. If America wants to talk, it will have to show seriousness for this. It will have to be ready to correct its wrong decision. America will have to cancel the unilateral tariff.''

There are constant claims and counter-claims between China and America regarding the negotiations related to tariff. Both have publicly said that they have not initiated the negotiations.

Experts call this confrontation between Chinese President Xi Jinping and American President Donald Trump a game of checkmate.

Both want to save their reputation

According to experts, both want to save their reputation but they want the negotiations to benefit both. That is, both want the heat of the trade war to subside.

In the ongoing tariff war between China and the United States, any leader who admits to starting negotiations first risks being accused of weakening their position.

Whoever shows impatience for negotiations may appear weaker in the process. Therefore, both sides aim to project that the other is more eager to negotiate.

This creates a peculiar situation: both China and the U.S. want the same outcome, yet neither is willing to suggest it. This has led to a state of "deliberate confusion" between the two sides.

If Trump and Xi engage in tariff negotiations, both will likely claim to have achieved a form of victory in this trade war.

However, domestically, both Trump and Jinping face challenges due to the tariffs. Trump appears to be struggling to convince the American public that the trade war will not lead to a recession.
