Former Congress President and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi mentioned the achievements of his party's government in Karnataka on the occasion of completion of two years of its government. Addressing the public in Vijaynagar, he said that the five 'guarantees' promised during the assembly elections have been fulfilled.
At the same time, taking the BJP to task, he said that the BJP wants money and resources to go to select rich people, while the Congress wants money to go to the poor. The Congress leader said that employment ends in the BJP model. Employment is created in the Congress model. In the BJP model, if you fall ill, you get into debt. In the Congress model, if you fall ill, you have money in your pocket for treatment.
Congress fulfilled all poll guarantees
Gandhi said that today the Congress Party's government in Karnataka has completed 2 years. He said we had given 5 guarantees during the elections in Karnataka, but today we have fulfilled one additional guarantee that is six guarantees. More than one lakh families have been given ownership rights of their land in the sixth guarantee.
This is the most important guarantee for the future of Karnataka, which will directly benefit crores of families, especially the poor, Dalits and tribals.
We want that whoever has land should get its ownership rights, because this is a fundamental right of every citizen.
We had made promises to the people of Karnataka during the elections. We had given 5 guarantees to the people. At that time Narendra Modi and the people of BJP had said that the Congress Party would not be able to do this work. Under the first guarantee 'Grihalakshmi' scheme, Rs 2,000 per month is being given to one crore women. Under the second guarantee 'Griha Jyoti', crores of families are being given 200 units of free electricity. We have also fulfilled this promise made to the public.
Rahul Gandhi further said that under the third guarantee 'Anna Bhagya Yojana', 10 kg of grain is being given to four crore people. Under the fourth guarantee 'Shakti' scheme, women are being provided the facility of free bus travel and through this, about 500 crore bus trips have been given free by the Karnataka government.
Rahul Gandhi said that under the fifth guarantee 'Yuva Nidhi', the Congress government is giving Rs 3,000 every month to three lakh youth of the state. He said that the distribution of more than one lakh land-leases to eligible beneficiaries is the sixth guarantee fulfilled by the Congress government.
