Mrs. Rekha Singh, wife of martyr Shri Deepak Singh, who attained martyrdom while protecting the motherland on 15 June 2020 in Galwan Valley of Ladakh, showed courage, perseverance and resolve and fulfilled her husband's unfulfilled dream by becoming a lieutenant in the Indian Army. The life of Mrs. Rekha Singh, a resident of village Fareda in Rewa district, was full of difficulties and struggles, but she faced every challenge bravely. She lost her husband just 15 months after marriage. Martyr Shri Deepak Singh was posthumously awarded the Vir Chakra. The Madhya Pradesh government gave a financial assistance of Rs 1 crore to the martyr's family. Along with this, Mrs. Rekha Singh was appointed to the post of Shiksha Karmi class-II.
Dreamed of joining the army inspired by her husband
Mrs. Rekha Singh, who was a teacher at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Sirmaur before marriage, dreamed of joining the army inspired by her husband. After her husband's martyrdom, she made this dream her inspiration. Despite difficult circumstances, she did not give up. Despite not being successful in the first attempt, in the second attempt she was selected for the post of Lieutenant in the Indian Army. After completing one year of training in Chennai, she started her service in the army. It is a coincidence that she has been posted in the same area where her husband was martyred while protecting the country.
