Operation Shield: Why the mock drill in border states is postponed


The civil defence mock drill scheduled to be held today in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana and Chandigarh has been postponed. The mock drill named Operation Shield in the border states adjoining Pakistan has been postponed due to administrative reasons.

First of all, the information came about the postponement of the 'mock drill' to be held under the civil security exercise in all the districts of Rajasthan. Earlier, the states in which the mock drill was to be held included Gujarat, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab. This mock drill has been named 'Operation Shield'.

New dates will be released later

According to the government spokesperson, the 'mock drill' to be held today in Rajasthan has been postponed due to administrative reasons. According to him, the new date of 'mock drill' will be announced soon. Earlier, the Civil Defence Department had issued guidelines regarding 'black out' and 'mock drill' in all 41 districts of the state on Thursday evening.

After this, in a statement issued by the Gujarat Information Department, it was said that it is informed that the civil defense exercise 'Operation Shield' to be held on 29 May 2025 has been postponed due to administrative reasons. It is requested that necessary instructions be issued to all controllers of civil defense and other stakeholders. The next dates of the drill will be issued later.

Shah to visit Jammu and Kashmir 

The Home Department in Jammu and Kashmir has said that the mock drill has been postponed due to the VVIP visit. Home Minister Amit Shah will be on a visit to Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday. The next date will be announced later. Apart from this, the exercise has also been postponed in Haryana and Chandigarh.

Earlier on Thursday, it was decided to conduct mock drills in the states bordering Pakistan. It was told that these mock drills will be conducted in the evening in the border areas. In fact, after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April, India destroyed 9 terrorist hideouts located in Pakistan and PoK. After which the Pakistani army carried out 300 to 400 unsuccessful drone attacks in Indian areas.
