If the BJP government in Madhya Pradesh and the organization have adopted a flexible stance towards Kunwar Vijay Shah, the biggest reason behind this is that he is considered to be one of the most powerful tribal leaders of the state.
Shah
is embroiled in a controversy over his alleged remarks about Sophia Qureshi. On
the orders of the MP High Court, an FIR has been registered against Vijay Shah
for making derogatory remarks about Qureshi.
BJP does not have any big tribal face in Nimar
In
the Nimar belt of the state, the BJP does not have any big tribal face after Late
Dilip Singh Bhuria. If there is anyone, it is Minister Shah. Late Dilip Singh
Bhuria's daughter Ms Nirmala Bhuria is a cabinet minister in the state.
On the other hand, Sumer Singh Solanki is a Rajya Sabha MP, but his stature is not on par with Shah. Vijay Shah also holds a significant position in terms of grassroots support in the area. He has been active in politics for the last 40 years and is an 8-time
MLA.
Tribal votes can shift
If the BJP takes any strict decision against Shah, then it is likely that the tribal votes in the area will shift. Votes mean the most in politics, in such a situation, Shah, who is handling the responsibility of MLA of Harsud area, is important for the BJP right now.
Cong will get a chance to become more aggressive
If BJP pressurizes him to resign, Shah can
rebel and resign from the MLA post and can also make it an issue of tribal
identity. This will bring embarrassment to BJP. On the other hand, if he
resigns, then Congress will get a chance to become more aggressive, which BJP
would not want at all.
