How Pakistan Army's bid to target military infrastructure through drone attacks was foiled

In a press briefing by the Indian Foreign Ministry on Friday, Colonel Sophia Qureshi gave information about the attacks in different parts of India on Thursday night.

Sophia Qureshi said, "The Pakistani army targeted military infrastructure on Thursday night.” She said that 300 to 400 drones were launched from Pakistan.

Colonel Sophia said, "300-400 drones attempted infiltration at 36 locations from Leh to Sir Creek. Indian security forces shot down many of these drones using kinetic and non-kinetic means."

"The possible purpose of such large-scale air intrusions was to test air defense systems and collect intelligence. Forensic investigation of the drone debris is being done. Initial investigation suggests that these drones are Turkish-made."

Heavy shelling on the border

She said, "There is heavy shelling on the border from Pakistan. Some Indian Army soldiers have been martyred or injured in this shelling. Pakistan has suffered heavy losses in India's retaliatory action."

Pakistan also carried out artillery shelling across the Line of Control using heavy-caliber artillery guns and armed drones at Tangdhar, Uri, Poonch, Mendhar, Rajouri, Akhnoor and Udhampur in J&K area, which resulted in some losses and injuries to Indian Army personnel. Pakistan Army also suffered major losses in Indian retaliatory fire.

Pakistan did not close its civil airspace

Additionally, Pakistan's irresponsible behavior again came to fore. Pakistan did not close its civil airspace despite it launching a failed unprovoked drone and missile attack on 7th May at 0830 hours in the evening. Pakistan is using civil airliners as a shield, knowing fully well that its attack on India would elicit a swift Air Defence response. This is not safe for the unsuspecting civil airliners, including the international flights, which were flying near IB between India and Pakistan.

These provocative and escalatory actions that were taken by Pakistan last night were targeted at Indian cities and civilian infrastructure, in addition to some military targets. The Indian Armed Forces responded proportionately, adequately, and responsibly, Sophia Qureshi informed.
