Telangana: 17 Die in Fire in Hyderabad Building, Toll May Rise, PM Modi Expresses Grief

A fire broke out in a building in Gulzar House near Charminar in Hyderabad on Sunday morning. So far 17 people have died in the accident, including some children. The cause of the fire is believed to be a short circuit, but it has not been officially confirmed yet.

The fire department received the information at around 6:30 am, after which the team reached the spot and started rescue operations. Many people were found unconscious and about 10 people have been admitted to the hospital. The death toll may increase.

Union Minister Reddy and AIMIM MLA reach the spot

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed grief over the accident and has given instructions to provide immediate treatment to the injured. At the same time, Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy and AIMIM MLA Mumtaz Ahmed Khan have reached the spot and took stock of the situation.

Telangana Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said that the fire broke out around 6 am and the fire brigade reached the spot by 6:16 am. The team tried to save everyone, but the fire had spread very fast.

He said that most of the people living in the building have died. The Chief Minister has spoken to the victim's family and assured all possible help from the government.

Deeply saddened: PM Modi

PM Modi has expressed deep grief over the incident. PMO wrote on X – 'Deeply saddened by the death of people in the fire incident in Hyderabad. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. Wishing the injured a speedy recovery.'

The families of the deceased will be given Rs 2 lakh each and the injured will be given Rs 50,000 each from the PM Relief Fund (PMNRF).
