The Monsoon is Set to Arrive in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka in South India on Saturday. According to the Meteorological Department, it will cover the states of South and Northeast in the next one week. At the same time, it can reach Central and East India on 4-5 June.
The Meteorological Department has issued two types of red alerts for Saturday. The first is of heavy rain, the second is of severe heat. There is a possibility of 200 mm of rain in 24 hours on the western coast of the country (Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala). Heavy rains may occur in these states for the next seven days.

Due to the possibility of hot winds blowing in Rajasthan, there is a red alert in the western part of Rajasthan till May 27. On Friday, Jaisalmer had the highest temperature of 48 degrees. It may increase further today. Today, red alert has been issued in 2 districts, orange alert in 7 districts and yellow alert in 2 districts.
Storm and rain claims 60 lives in UP
The Meteorological Department has issued a storm alert in 29 states of the country on Saturday. In Uttar Pradesh, the death toll in storm and rain related incidents has reached 60 in the last 3 days. 4 flights between Lucknow and Delhi were canceled due to rain.

IMD on Saturday issued a storm alert for Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Goa, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sikkim, West Bengal, Odisha, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Rajasthan. At the same time, a warning of hailstorm has also been issued in Uttarakhand and Himachal.
Warning for fishermen in Kerala
The Meteorological Department has warned of a strong storm in the coastal and interior areas of Kerala. Common people including fishermen have been advised to take precautionary measures. Fishing has been banned on the Kerala-Karnataka-Lakshadweep coasts from 23 to 27 May.
