Former Indian coach Ravi Shastri has revealed the reason for Virat Kohli's retirement. According to Shastri, 'Kohli was mentally tired of constant public criticism.' Shastri told in the ICC Review that he had spoken to Virat Kohli before making his retirement decision public.
Shastri said- "I talked to him about this. I think his mind was very clear a week before his retirement announcement. He has no regrets. Virat surprised me because I thought he had at least two or three years left in Test cricket. When you are mentally tired, this is what your body tells you."
Shastri said on Rohit Sharma's form- If I were the coach of the Indian team, I would not have let Rohit Sharma out in the Sydney Test.
Virat Kohli retired from Test cricket on 12 May. He wrote in an Insta post- 'Test cricket tested me, shaped me, taught me lessons that I will remember for a lifetime.' Kohli made his debut against the West Indies in 2011.
