Politics is heating up within the NDA as the Bihar elections-2025 approach, sparking discussions about whether Nitish Kumar will assume the role of convenor of the NDA. This demand has been made by JDU MP Rampreet Mandal, prompting a response from the opposition while NDA leaders have come to defend this proposition.
However, no official statement has come from the BJP on this demand so far. In the past, Nitish Kumar declined the offer to become convenor of the opposition alliance 'INDIA' for the 2024 elections, raising questions about whether he will accept a similar role within the NDA before the Bihar elections.
If political experts are to be believed, Nitish Kumar would like to strengthen his position further before taking the post of convenor. His strategy has always been to maintain his political strength in Bihar. It is uncertain how the convenor position aligns with his overarching goals. However, there are indications that he could be offered this role as part of a new strategy before the elections.
BJP's stance appears supportive
The BJP's stance appears supportive, with leaders like Bihar BJP President Dilip Jaiswal and Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi asserting that the 2025 elections will be contested under Nitish Kumar's leadership. Additionally, Union Minister and LJP (Ram Vilas Paswan) President Chirag Paswan has echoed this sentiment. They emphasized that the NDA aims to secure 220-225 seats in Bihar under Nitish's guidance.
This strategy reflects the BJP's intent to maintain Nitish Kumar as the face of the alliance to preserve JDU's voter base, particularly among the Kurmi-Koiri and Luv-Kush communities.
