Axiom-4 mission: Shubhanshu Shukla flies to International Space Station along with 3 other astronauts

The Axiom-4 mission carrying India's Shubhanshu Shukla and three other astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS) was launched on June 25 at 12 noon Indian time.

This mission had been postponed several times before due to technical flaws and other problems.

The Axiom-4 mission is a commercial space flight. Houston-based company Axiom Space is running this campaign.

According to NASA, "Along with Shubhanshu Shukla, Poland's Slavosz Aznanski Wisniewski, Hungary's Tibor Kapu and America's Peggy Whitson will go to the International Space Station." The astronauts will stay there for two weeks.

Under the agreement between the American space agency NASA and the Indian agency ISRO, Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla of the Indian Air Force has been selected for this mission. Shubhanshu will be the first Indian to visit the International Space Station and the second Indian to go into space. 41 years ago, Rakesh Sharma had traveled to space in 1984 on a Soviet Union spacecraft.
