Madhya Pradesh: Former CM Digvijaya Singh's brother Laxman Singh expelled from Congress for six years

Former Madhya Pradesh CM Digvijaya Singh's brother Laxman Singh has been expelled from the primary membership of the Congress party for six years.

A press release regarding the expulsion of Laxman Singh has been issued on the official account @INCSandesh created for Congress announcements.

It reads, "The Congress President has expelled former Madhya Pradesh MLA Laxman Singh from the primary membership of the Indian National Congress for a period of six years with immediate effect due to his anti-party activities."

Tariq Anwar, member secretary of Congress' Disciplinary Action Committee, said, "Laxman Singh was consistently engaged in activities against the party and exhibited indiscipline. He made statements that were critical of the party and was warned many times by the State Congress Committee. But it seems that he has made up his mind to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). That is why there was no change in his attitude."

Anwar said, "Finally the Central Disciplinary Committee looked into his case. Both the State Congress Committee and the in-charge there recommended his expulsion from the party. After that the committee has decided that he should be expelled from the party for six years."
