US President Donald Trump has suspended the admission of foreign students coming to Harvard University to study or participate in exchange programs for the time being for six months.
The US President announced this on Wednesday, citing 'national security' reasons.
He said that continuing admission of foreign students in the institution would be 'harmful' to American interests.
Harvard University has described Trump's move as 'retaliatory' and has stressed that it will continue to protect its international students.
This controversy started when Harvard refused to accept many demands of the White House in April.
Wednesday's order comes after a judge last week blocked the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) from banning international students from Harvard.
