For the past few days, there has been a series of incidents involving bomb threats in flights, their emergency landings and cancellation of flights due to technical faults. These incidents have been reported following tragic Ahmedabad plane crash. At least 8 such incidents have been reported within the last 3 days. One of them involves sparks coming out of the wheels of the plane during landing.
On June 12, an Air India plane crashed in Ahmedabad. Since then, many flights have been cancelled. Sometimes due to bomb threats and sometimes citing technical problems. With flights being cancelled one after the other, the question is being raised whether air travel is in crisis? The level of apprehension has increased due to the cancellation of such a large number of flights.
The bomb threats have been reported in the past as well. Along with this, technical faults are also being reported. But cancellation of flights on such a large scale was very rare. But why is this happening now?

• A Chennai-bound British Airways Boeing Dreamliner aircraft returned to London mid-flight due to technical problems. British Airways said in a statement that the plane landed safely and crew members and passengers disembarked normally.
• Passengers on board an Air India Express flight from Guwahati to Kolkata faced a lot of trouble as they were deboarded twice due to 'technical problems'. Finally, the flight was sent to its destination after a delay of more than 18 hours.

• A Lufthansa flight coming to Hyderabad had to return to Frankfurt Airport after receiving a bomb threat.
• An alarm was sounded at the airport here after smoke came out of the wheels of a Saudi Airlines plane carrying 242 Haj pilgrims from Jeddah to Lucknow. There were 242 Haj pilgrims on this flight.
• The Air India Dreamliner Boeing aircraft had to return to Hong Kong on Monday after technical problems were suspected, as it returned to Hong Kong soon after taking off for Delhi.

• Air India canceled the San Francisco-Mumbai flight at the scheduled stop in Kolkata due to technical fault in one of its engines. This Boeing 777-200 LR aircraft was going to Mumbai with 211 passengers. The captain of the plane cited security reasons.
• After this, a bomb threat was received on the Indigo Airlines flight going from Kochi to Delhi. After this, the route of the flight was changed and it was sent towards Nagpur. The plane has been landed safely here.
• Air India flight AI 159 from Ahmedabad to London was canceled. After this there was chaos at the airport. The passengers expressed a lot of anger. They say that first the flight was delayed and now it has been canceled.
Why are so many incidents coming to light?
The reason behind flight cancellations and emergency landings is that after the Ahmedabad accident, airlines are adopting an extra cautious approach. In such a situation, wherever there is a possibility of even a slight mistake or loophole, the flight is being cancelled.
On June 12, an Air India flight from Ahmedabad to London crashed just seconds after takeoff. In this incident, a total of 241 passengers, including former Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani, were killed, while one passenger survived.
