Questions are being raised on social media about India playing against Pakistan in the Asia Cup-2025.
Many Indian users on social media are opposing the match to be played between India and Pakistan.
A user named Namita Balyan posted on x, "Asia Cup 2025 announced on Kargil Vijay Diwas. We are definitely not paying any respect to the sacrifice of our braves or Operation Sindoor in this way. Because the priority is to shamelessly earn huge amounts of money through India-Pak matches."
At the same time, a user named Darpan said, "I heard about India-Pakistan match in Asia Cup 2025. Are you (BCCI) serious? That too after the recent attacks in Kashmir."
A user named Dharia has written that India should boycott all matches with Pakistan.
He said, "BCCI and Indian government should be ashamed. India-Pakistan match in Asia Cup 2025 is like playing with the sentiments of victims of Pahalgam attack. India should boycott all matches against Pakistan."
Cricket fans in Pakistan welcome
However, cricket fans in Pakistan are welcoming the match between India and Pakistan.
A Pakistani user named Syed Muhammad Usman wrote, "It is good to see that cricket has been given priority over politics. BCCI should be appreciated for the efforts made in this regard."
He said, "We should not forget that Asia Cup is not just a competition between India and Pakistan, but there are also small countries like Nepal, Bhutan, Hong Kong who run their cricket system with the resources received from this event."
YC, Shiv Sena slam BCCI
Indian Youth Congress posted on social media platform X, "ICC has announced India vs Pakistan cricket match in Asia Cup."
"The Prime Minister had said that terrorism and sports cannot go together, then what is all this? The President of ICC is none other than Home Minister's son Jay Shah, which means everything happened with consent. Then what about those who died in Pahalgam?"
Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi has raised questions on BCCI along with the central government.
On being asked about the India-Pakistan match in Asia Cup, she told media, "If this match happens then it is not only the failure of the government but also of BCCI. On one hand, on Kargil Day, we remember the heroic saga of our army. On the same day, PCB announces that Asia Cup is going to be held in UAE."
Chaturvedi said further, "I was part of the parliamentary delegation under Operation Sindoor and we said that there talks and terrorism cannot go together. The terrorists of the Pahalgam attack have not been caught yet. How can BCCI allow an India-Pakistan match. Not only me but every citizen of the country will oppose this match."
Former captain of the Indian cricket team and Congress leader Mohammad Azharuddin said that when bilateral tournaments are not being held between India and Pakistan then why are we playing against each other in international tournaments?
He said, "My stand is clear, we should not play against Pakistan even in international tournaments. But whatever the government and the board decide will happen."
