IND vs. ENG Test Series: Rishabh Pant out of Test series, scan confirms fracture, who will take over wicketkeeping duties, can he also bat?

Indian wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant is out of the Test series being played against England.

Pant was injured on the first day of the fourth Test. According to media reports, he has a fracture in his right toe. The scan report shows the fracture and according to doctors, Pant will have to rest for at least six weeks.

Pant retired hurt after getting injured. India's wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant was injured in the 68th over on the first day of the Manchester Test. Chris Woakes bowled a slow yorker on the fourth ball of the over. Pant went to play a reverse sweep, but the ball hit his bat and then hit his shoe. England appealed for LBW, but the umpire gave the decision of not out.

Dhruv Jurel can take over wicketkeeping duties

Pant has retired hurt. Now only ten batsmen can bat. At the same time, Dhruv Jurel can take over wicketkeeping duties.

According to ICC rules, a batting replacement is only available when a player has a concussion (head injury). If a player sustains a head injury and reports symptoms such as confusion, dizziness, or blurred vision, they can be granted a concussion substitute. In this case, a player in a similar role is included in the team. Since Pant has suffered a leg injury and not a head injury, India will not receive a batting substitute or a concussion substitute for him.

If Pant is not fit, Dhruv Jurel can be fielded as a substitute fielder. He can take on wicketkeeping responsibilities during England's innings, but he will not be able to bat for the remainder of the match, including the second innings.

This is not Pant's first injury. Earlier in the Lord's Test, he had also suffered a finger injury during wicketkeeping. He recovered from that injury and returned to Manchester.

Three players already injured

During this series, three players of Team India have already been injured. Arshdeep Singh and Akashdeep, who were part of the team, were out of the fourth Test, while Nitish Reddy has been ruled out of the tournament. Arshdeep Singh was injured during practice before the fourth Test. He has a cut on his hand. He has not yet made his Test debut. Nitish Reddy injured his left knee while practicing in the gym on July 20. Akashdeep suffered a back injury during the Lord's Test.
