Long hours on set demand more than just talent and stamina—nourishing food becomes an essential co-star, helping actors stay energized, grounded, and connected. But for many actors, their lunchboxes are more than meals; they are packed with warmth, tradition, and moments of bonding. &TV actor Sapna Sikarwar (Bimlesh, Happu Ki Ultan Paltan) give us a delightful peek into their on-set dabbas.
Sapna Sikarwar, who plays Bimlesh in Happu Ki Ultan Paltan, shares, “Food is my ultimate mood fixer on set! No matter how busy or chaotic the shoot is, my lunch break is something I truly look forward to. My tiffin is filled with comforting homemade dishes, roti-sabzi, dal-chawal, or sometimes chilla made of besan or suji. I also carry small snack boxes for the evening; poha, upma, or masala peanuts are great fillers.”
Sapna says that on the days when she is fasting, sabudana khichdi, fruits like banana and apple, and a bit of curd are her go-to. “But one thing that always makes it to my tiffin is achaar—whether it's mango, lemon, or mixed, that tangy bite adds magic to the meal”, she adds.
Sapna Sikarwar says what truly makes lunchtime special is the company. She says, “It’s not just about what you bring but whom you share it with, and for me, that’s my co-actor and dear friend, Geetanjali Mishra. She plays my onscreen sister and is an incredible cook in real life too! She brings some of the most delicious, wholesome food, think matar paneer, stuffed parathas, or even sweet dishes like halwa. Sharing our lunchboxes has become a daily ritual. We laugh, talk, taste each other’s food, and it genuinely feels like a mini family lunch amidst the madness of the set.”
