Scam Alert: How Fake Parcel Messages Are Looting Bank Accounts; How You Can Stay Safe From Online Frauds?

The methods of online fraud are changing rapidly and scammers are targeting people with new tricks every day. A recent scam has emerged where people receive fake messages in the name of India Post. These messages state that "your parcel could not be delivered due to an incorrect address," and include a link prompting the user to update their address and pay a fee.

The shocking thing is that these messages are also being received by those people who have not ordered any parcel. But due to the language and design of the message being similar to the original, many people get confused and click on the given link.

What happens when you click the link

When the user clicks on the link, he reaches a fake website which is designed exactly like India Post. The personal information or payment details entered by them reach the scammers directly. After this, their data can be sold illegally or money is withdrawn from their bank account.

How to stay safe?

If an unknown message related to a parcel comes in which there is a link and demand for payment, then be alert.

Never click on the link and do not share any details.

Delete such messages immediately or report it to the cyber cell.

Do not share OTP or bank related information with any stranger.
