Shubhangi Atre aka Angoori Bhabhi of Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai share her favourite Monsoon delicacy from her hometown Indore
There is something truly magical about the monsoon, the rhythmic patter of raindrops and that irresistible craving for garama-garam street-side treats. For many artists, the rain isn’t just about weather; they bring back memories, stir stories, and awaken a deep-rooted appetite for nostalgic flavours.
&TV artist Shubhangi Atre (Angoori Bhabhi, Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai) takes us on a mouth-watering journey through her hometown Indore, sharing the monsoon delicacies that continue to drizzle joy into her life.
Shubhangi Atre shares, “There’s a quiet romance in how Indore welcomes monsoon. The city comes alive with misty mornings, the scent of wet earth, and the unmistakable aroma of street food wafting through every street and crossing.
Shubhangi has the fondest memories of rushing to 56 Dukan with her college friends. “No downpour could ever stop us from enjoying crispy moong bhajiyas, steaming plates of bhutte ka kees, and tangy khatta-meetha poha,” she says. “That perfect mix of crunch, spice, and warmth in the cool breeze was pure bliss.”
At home, her mom would prepare dal bafla, a traditional favourite that always tasted even better when eaten during a rain-soaked evening. “Indoris are passionate foodies, and every season has its signature flavours, but monsoon brings with it a sense of nostalgia, comfort, and community that’s truly special”, she adds.
