Theme-Based Parks Will Be Developed in Madhya Pradesh Inspired by Barcelona, Says CM Mohan Yadav in Spain


Madhya Pradesh CM Dr. Mohan Yadav toured some of Barcelona’s most iconic sites that reflect the city’s rich heritage in art, culture and architecture on the final day of his visit to Spain. He visited Park Güell, Sagrada Família, and the Picasso Museum, drawing deep inspiration from their creativity, artistic expression, and cultural preservation for application in Madhya Pradesh’s development.

Park Güell – A Symbol of Organic Architecture

The visit began with Park Güell, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a masterpiece by famed architect Antoni Gaudí. CM admired the park’s harmony between nature and architecture, noting iconic elements like the Dragon Staircase, the Hypostyle Hall with 86 columns and the Serpentine Bench decorated with vibrant mosaics. 

CM described the park as a model of urban beautification, green development and culturally rich public spaces, adding that theme-based artistic parks blending traditional art can similarly be developed in Madhya Pradesh.

Sagrada Família – A Fusion of Spirituality, Science and Nature

CM Mohan Yadav also visited the magnificent Sagrada Família, one of Europe’s most renowned basilicas under construction for over 140 years. He appreciated Gaudí’s visionary work that unites spiritual architecture, organic forms and symbolic art. The Chief Minister emphasised that such long-term, people-centric and globally inspired design approaches should guide the development of religious sites like Ujjain, Omkareshwar and Chitrakoot in Madhya Pradesh.

Picasso Museum – A Living Example of Art and Expression

The Chief Minister concluded his tour with a visit to the Picasso Museum, a vibrant hub of artistic innovation showcasing the works of Pablo Picasso, including the "Las Meninas" series, the Cubism movement, and interactive galleries.CM Dr. Yadav highlighted the need to expand the global and digital reach of Madhya Pradesh’s traditional art forms such as Gond, Phad and Mandana. He noted that art is not just a medium of identity, but also a powerful tool for education, employment and tourism development.

CM Dr. Yadav said that the experiences in Barcelona would serve as valuable inspiration for a long-term, structured roadmap to promote art, architecture, religious tourism, and urban innovation in Madhya Pradesh. He reiterated the state’s commitment to placing art, culture and heritage conservation at the heart of development.
