What big change YouTube is going to make in its monetization policy? A big step towards promoting original and quality content?

YouTube is once again going to make a big change in its monetization policy. This time the company's focus is on those creators who want to garner views by repeatedly making the same, template-based or machine-like videos. This new policy, which will come into effect from July 15, 2025, is considered a big step towards promoting original and quality content.

Prioritizing originality and authenticity

The Google-owned platform has shared information on its official support page that now the scrutiny of "mass-produced" and "repetitive" content under the YouTube Partner Programme (YPP) will be more stringent than before. "YouTube has always prioritized originality and authenticity, and this change is the next step in that direction."

New guidelines

Original content mandatory: Using someone else's video or audio directly without necessary changes will no longer be accepted for monetization. It is important that your own creativity is reflected in the content.

Repetitive and template based videos: Videos made repeatedly on the same format, thumbnail and topic will now be monitored by YouTube. Content that neither educates nor entertains, and is made only for views, will no longer be considered worthy of revenue.

Will videos made with AI also be under scrutiny?

Although YouTube has not directly named AI, but looking at the trends, it is believed that videos that are completely AI generated - such as those made without any human reaction or voice - may also be deprived of monetization under this new policy.
