Indian editorial cartoonist Shekhar Gurera honoured with honorary doctorate


Indian editorial cartoonist Shekhar Gurera got an honorary doctorate from Kennedy University (France, St. Lucia and Florida). Gurera is honored with this honor for his long and remarkable experience of more than four decades in his career. Gurera called this honor a great honor for the Indian cartoon and cartoon world and shared it with his contemporary cartoonists.

 As a critic, Shekhar Gurera gave credit and honour to his mother and wife by mentioning them. Apart from this, he also thanked all those institutions of his career who provided a suitable platform for cartoons, continuing from his college study days and the difficult circumstances of publishing editorial cartoons. 

According to known sources, Gurera is the fifth cartoonist in the world and the first in India to receive an honorary doctorate in editorial cartooning. In the past too, Gurera has been the recipient of several national and international honours during his career including representing India at the 3rd Asian Cartoon Exhibition 1997, being selected as the brand ambassador for various projects by the Delhi Government in 1995 and by the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) in 2017.
