Will Bharat Taxi compete with Ola, Uber service? When and in which states will it start?


Bharat Taxi in India: To break the monopoly of Ola, Uber across the country, preparations have started to start 'Bharat Taxi' on a cooperative basis for the first time in the country with the initiative of the Union Cooperative Department. For this, a multi-state cooperative taxi service organization has been set up and this service will be started in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh in the first phase.

Amit Shah had announced to start app-based taxi service

Last month, while announcing the National Cooperative Policy of the Central Government, Cooperative Minister Amit Shah had announced to start app-based taxi service in the country before December. According to this, app-based taxi service 'Bharat Taxi' will be launched. This plan is being made on the initiative of the Department of Cooperation.

A multi-state cooperative taxi organization registered

For this, a multi-state cooperative taxi organization has been registered with the participation of 8 cooperative organizations like National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC), Indian Agricultural Fertilizer Company Limited (IFFCO), Gujarat Cooperative Milk Development Institute and the like. For this, a capital of Rs 300 crore has been raised.

National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) and National Cooperative Export Corporation Limited are also shareholders of the Cooperative Taxi Corporation and the government will not have any direct participation in it.

Will prevent economic exploitation of taxi drivers

Sources in the National Cooperative Development Corporation said that this scheme is being started to prevent economic exploitation of taxi drivers by companies like Ola and Uber and to provide taxi facilities to common passengers at affordable rates.

200 taxi drivers have been registered 

These services will be provided gradually across the country on cooperative elements.

In the first phase, service will be provided in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. 200 taxi drivers have been registered for this.

The responsibility of preparing the outline of this scheme scientifically has been given to the Indian Institute of Management.

Tenders have been invited for technical partnership to make the app.
