MP: Use Only Clay for Ganesha, Durga and Lakshmi Idols, Says CM Mohan Yadav; Launches ‘Maati Ganesh – Siddh Ganesh’ Abhiyan; 10 lakh clay idols will be instakked in households
MP CM Dr. Mohan Yadav on Monday launched the Maati Ganesh – Siddh Ganesh Abhiyan run by the Madhya Pradesh Jan Abhiyan Parishad at Samatva Bhavan, CM residence. On this occasion, he said that worshipping Lord Ganesha grants a person wisdom, intellect and success.
CM prayed that Lord Ganesha may fulfil desires of everyone and that His divine blessings bring continuous prosperity to the state. CM Dr. Yadav urged the officials of the Jan Abhiyan Parishad to promote the use of clay idols for Lord Ganesha during Ganesh Chaturthi, Goddess Durga during Navratri, and Mahalakshmi during Diwali.
CM emphasised the need to launch awareness campaigns to this effect. He explained that clay idols naturally dissolve into the earth and cause no harm to the environment. The campaign aims to promote environmental conservation by encouraging the use of Ganesh idols made from sacred clay and cow dung, thereby helping preserve water bodies and maintain ecological balance.
A Creative Initiative for Environmental Protection
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav also unveiled a pictorial poster illustrating the concept of the campaign. Under this innovative initiative, in collaboration with the Narmada Samagra organisation, eco-conscious training will be conducted across all 313 development blocks of the state.
Training will be provided to Navankur Sakhis
The training will be provided to Navankur Sakhis (women volunteers) associated with the Parishad. These trained volunteers will then motivate and train local women in their villages to craft clay idols of Lord Ganesha.
10 lakh clay idols to be instakked in households
The campaign targets the installation of 10 lakh clay idols in households, with the aim of ensuring the participation of 25 lakh people across Madhya Pradesh. CM Dr. Yadav also released the theme song and official poster of the campaign
Vice Chairman of the Madhya Pradesh Jan Abhiyan Parishad, Shri Mohan Nagar, was also present on the occasion. All attendees took a pledge to install only eco-friendly Ganesh idols made of clay and cow dung in their homes and to ensure that the idol immersion is done in an entirely natural and environmentally friendly manner.
Dr. Bakul Lad, Executive Director of the Parishad, informed that in collaboration with Narmada Samagra, the Parishad has launched this new initiative to promote clay Ganesh idols. Through its trained network, the Parishad will inspire and train rural women to make eco-friendly Ganesh idols, thereby increasing awareness of environmental protection.
