PM Modi visited White House in Feb

If PM Modi and President Trump meet, it will be their second meeting in seven months. Earlier in February, PM Modi visited the White House. The personal relationship between the two leaders strengthened during Trump's first term, but in the second term these relations became strained due to the tariff dispute. Nevertheless, Trump has called Prime Minister Modi his "friend" many times.

The White House says that India's purchase of oil from Russia is supporting Russia in continuing the Ukraine war. For this reason, Trump is pressuring India to reduce oil imports from Russia, which will increase economic pressure on Russia. India rejected the criticism, hitting back, saying the US itself buys uranium, chemicals and fertilisers from Russia.
