AI based technology being used to detect fraudulent activities

According to the data of Financial Risk Indicator released in May 2025, an average of 2,000 SIM cards are being caught every day which have been found involved in some kind of fraud. UPI's misuse has increased

As much as it has become easier to transact through UPI, its misuse has also increased. Fraudsters are now using fake calls, messages and apps to trap people and withdraw money from their bank accounts. Keeping this in mind, the Government of India has advised all banks to install financial risk indicators in their systems. This system identifies the mobile number and divides it into low, medium and high risk categories.

Banks and financial institutions have been successful in preventing fraudulent activities by adopting this system. Also, telecom companies are now increasing anti-fraud security measures in their network layer so that customers can be kept safe.
