UP: Eleven die in Gonda as speeding Bolero falls into Saryu canal
Eleven people died in Gonda, UP, when a speeding Bolero lost control and fell into the Saryu canal. Most of them are from the same family. There were 15 people in the Bolero. Four were rescued by local people by breaking the glass. All of them were going to Prithvinath temple to offer water.
The accident was so horrific that not a single person could get out of the Bolero on his own. Due to rain, the canal was full of water. As soon as it fell into the canal, the gates of the car got locked. In a few seconds, the entire car was filled with water. The people sitting inside kept struggling and died in agony.
There were villagers nearby where the accident happened. Seeing the Bolero falling into the canal, they jumped into the water but could not open the gate. Barely four people were rescued by breaking the window glass.
Car's front glass was broken and the people were pulled out
The accident happened in Motiganj police station area on Sunday at 10 am. Police also reached the spot within 10 minutes. After this, rescue started. The car's front glass was broken and the people were pulled out one by one and brought to the road. The Bolero is still stuck in the canal.
A video of the accident has surfaced. In it, 11 dead bodies are lying on the road. According to the police, the speed of the car at the time of the accident was 60 kmph. Among the dead are 6 women, 2 men and 3 children. The dead include Beena (35), Kajal (22), Mehak (12), Durgesh, Nandini, Ankit, Shubh, Sanju Verma, Anju, Anasuya, Saumya.
A teenager girl who survived the accident said we were all going to the temple. When the accident happened, we were singing bhajans. Suddenly our car slipped and fell into the canal. I don't remember what happened after that. Everything became blurry.
