Uttarakhand: NHPC power house tunnel mouth closed due to landslide in Pithoragarh, all workers rescued


19 employees trapped in the tunnel of Dhauliganga Power Project in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand were safely evacuated on Sunday. The tunnel route was closed due to landslide on Saturday.

Meanwhile, there is a flood situation in 1018 villages in eight districts of Punjab. So far 8 people have died in flood-rain. 3 people are missing. More than 11 thousand people have been shifted to a safe place.

In Punjab, the wall of the warehouse of a brick kiln collapsed due to rain in Jawaharke village of Mansa. A farmer riding a bicycle died after getting buried under it. The wall of Bhatner Fort located in Hanumangarh, Rajasthan collapsed due to rain.

On the other hand, IMD Director General Mrityunjay Mahapatra told on Sunday that there is a danger of landslide and flood in Uttarakhand in September.

Heavy rain is expected in Rajasthan, Haryana and Delhi next month. The Meteorological Department estimates that there will be more than normal (167.9 mm) rainfall in September.
