Asia Cup-2025: What did Suryakumar Yadav say about Asia Cup trophy? Tells what the real trophy is
Asia Cup-2025: Indian T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav has given a statement regarding the Asia Cup trophy. He said that the trophy to be received is "a silver vessel; the real trophy is winning people's hearts."
About the controversy surrounding his refusal to accept the trophy, Suryakumar Yadav said, "I wouldn't call it a controversy. Everyone has seen the trophy, everyone has shared pictures. But the real trophy is when you win people's hearts. You win the trust of the players. The trust shown by the support staff, the people who work behind the scenes, is the real trophy."
He said, "What we're going to receive is silverware. The people who work and toil on the field are the real trophy."
The final of the Asia Cup 2025 was played between India and Pakistan on Sunday. India won the match by five wickets, claiming the Asia Cup title for the ninth time.
After the match, the Indian team refused to accept the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi, President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and Chief of the Pakistan Cricket Board, which has sparked controversy.
Regarding his form, he said, "I feel like I'm not out of form, I'm just out of runs. I believe if you keep practicing, the runs will come."
Team India captain Suryakumar Yadav could not bat well in the Asia Cup 2025, scoring just 72 runs in seven matches.
