Bihar Assembly Election 2025: Nitish Kumar, Amit Shah Meet in Patna; Seat-Sharing Talks Gain Momentum?
Bihar Assembly Election 2025: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar met with Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday to talk about plans for the upcoming state assembly elections.
During their meeting, they discussed how the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will work together, focusing on how to share seats between the BJP and Nitish Kumar's party, JD(U). This is important because both parties are major partners in the NDA in Bihar.
JD(U) might give some of its seats to the Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM), while the BJP could share seats with the Rashtriya Loktantrik Morcha (RLM) and Lok Janshakti Party (RLP).
The Bihar Assembly has 243 members, and deciding how many seats each party will get is a crucial part of their strategy.
Nitish Kumar met Shah at a private hotel in Patna, where Shah had arrived the night before. The meeting also included other important leaders from both parties, such as JD(U) working president Sanjay Jha, Bihar Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, and BJP's Bihar in-charge Vinod Tawade.
After their discussion, Shah plans to meet with BJP leaders and workers in Dehri-on-Sone and Barauni to further refine the party's strategy for the elections.
