Teacher's Day-2025: President Murmu Confers National Teacher Award on MP’s Sheela Patel and Bherulal Osara
On the occasion of Teacher's Day-2025, PresidentDroupadi Murmu conferred the National Teacher Award on two teachers from Madhya Pradesh for their outstanding contributions to education at a ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan was also present. As part of the honor, the awardees were presented with a shawl, a shrifal, and a memento.
Primary Teacher Sheela Patel
Sheela Patel, posted at Government Primary School, Devaran Taparia in Damoh district, has introduced joyful learning methods for children through play. She effectively implemented the Foundation Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) Mission using songs, poems, stories, and role play.
On holidays, she organised special classes to promote women’s literacy and also conducted summer and winter camps. In her school village, she developed educational walls and learning places in every lane and locality to engage children. She also prepared zero-cost teaching-learning materials (TLM) to spark interest in studies and encouraged group discussions and participation to enhance understanding among students.
Primary Teacher Bherulal Osara
Bherulal Osara, posted at Government EPES Middle School, Agar-Malwa district, has been recognised for his deep subject knowledge and for fostering morality and creativity among students. He actively promoted environmental conservation through Eco Clubs and CLAP Clubs, educating children on cleanliness, water conservation, plantation, plastic elimination, and sustainable green living.
To build interest in studies, he regularly organised street plays, rallies, poster and essay competitions, as well as creative writing workshops. Acknowledging the importance of the digital era, he spread awareness on online safety, sensitizing students about cybercrime risks, safe use of social media and password protection. His initiatives have also inspired many fellow teachers in the region.
