Uncertainty Over BJP's New President: What Nitin Gadkari said?
The question of who will be the new national president of the BJP is still unclear. With the Bihar assembly elections-2025 approaching, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari was asked about this. He cleverly said that only the current president, JP Nadda, could answer that question. He said, "You have asked the wrong person."
JP Nadda has been the BJP's national president since 2020, after taking over from Amit Shah. He started as the acting president and later became the full-time president. Recently, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat was also asked about the delay in choosing a new president, to which he replied, "If we had to chose, would there have been such a delay?"
Special event planned at RSS headquarters on October 2
The discussion about the new president has come up again because the festive season of Navratri starts on September 22nd. The BJP might make a decision during this time, especially since a special event is planned at the RSS headquarters in Nagpur on October 2nd to celebrate the party's 100th anniversary. Former President Ram Nath Kovind will be the chief guest, and Mohan Bhagwat will speak at the event.
New president could be announced before Bihar election dates are revealed
Sources say that the Bihar assembly elections are coming soon, and a new president might be announced before the election dates are revealed. Some leaders believe the party will run under a new president's leadership. The delay in choosing a new president is said to be due to the recent Vice Presidential election, and over 100 senior leaders have been consulted about the new president.
Gadkari was asked about the delay in a TV interview because he is from Nagpur. The RSS plays an important role in selecting the new president. It is also being said that since C.P. Radhakrishnan is an OBC, the BJP has overcome the pressure to have an OBC as its new president. Therefore, the party may bet on an upper caste leader.
