Kota: A 215-foot Ravana effigy has been prepared for burning on October 2 at the National Dussehra Mela in Kota, Rajasthan.

Weighing 13,000 kg and made entirely of iron, the effigy was erected using two hydraulic cranes, setting a world record.

Fair Committee Chairman Vivek Rajvanshi said on Monday that this is the tallest Ravana effigy ever made in the world. For this achievement, Kota will be included in the Asia Book of World Records and the India Book of World Records.

He added that, following the suggestions of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, several innovations have been made to make the Kota Dussehra Mela grand and attractive. Various programs have also been included, blending tradition and modernity.

Rajvanshi said that while effigies of Ravana have been made between 72 and 75 feet tall for the Dussehra Mela, this time a 215-foot Ravana effigy has been completed. This is the tallest Ravana effigy in the world.

The process of registering this achievement in the record books has been completed.

Delhi currently holds the record

It is noteworthy that Delhi currently holds the record for building a 210-foot Ravana effigy. The effigy of Ravana burned here in 2024 has been declared the world's tallest. Previously, a 221-foot effigy was built in Chandigarh in 2019, but it failed to stand. So it was not included in the list of world records.
