Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai actor Ashish Kapoor arrested in rape case
Actor Ashish Kapoor, who appeared in the TV serial Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, was arrested on Wednesday in a rape case. A woman alleged that Ashish raped her in the washroom during a house party in Delhi in the second week of August. The police have arrested the actor from Pune. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
Ashish's arrest in Pune has been confirmed by DCP (North) Raja Banthia. The police tracked Ashish Kapoor's movement from Goa to Pune. After this teams were sent to both places and then the actor was arrested from Pune.
Ashish met the woman through Instagram
According to the police, Ashish Kapoor met the woman through Instagram. The two became friends and then a party was planned, in which the victim was also included. The victim lodged a complaint with the Delhi Police on August 11, initially alleging that Ashish Kapoor, his friend and two unknown men together raped her. At the same time, a woman (friend's wife) also beat her up.
Woman alleged that the incident was videographed
However, later the woman changed her statement and said that only Ashish Kapoor raped her. The woman also alleged that the incident was videographed, but the police have not found any such video yet. Officials said that earlier the case was registered in gang rape, but now it will be changed to rape charges only.
On August 21, Ashish Kapoor's friend and his wife applied for anticipatory bail, which was accepted by the court. The victim was also present during the hearing, but she did not name that friend in her arguments.

The police say that CCTV footage and eyewitness statements show that during the party, Ashish Kapoor and the woman went to the washroom together. When they did not come out for a long time, Kapoor's friends and other guests started knocking on the door. While Ashish Kapoor's friend's wife had made the PCR call.

In 2021, he got engaged to TV producer Pearl Grey, with whom he shared matching tattoos. The engagement ended a year later, and Kapoor has since deleted his Instagram account.
