Patna: Just before the Bihar Assembly elections-2025, widespread discontent has emerged within the Congress party over ticket distribution. Disgruntled by the neglect in ticket distribution, senior Congress leaders and former MLAs have now resorted to rebellion.
Disgruntled Congress leaders have announced that they will hold a protest and fast at the Sadakat Ashram, the Congress state headquarters in Patna, on Thursday. They have demanded the removal of party state in-charge Krishna Allavaru, alleging that he lacked transparency in ticket distribution and neglected grassroots workers.
'Six current MLAs have been denied tickets'
Congress State Research Committee Chairman Anand Madhav said after a meeting on Wednesday, "Our goal is to save the Congress party. Six current MLAs have been denied tickets, despite their proven grassroots leadership. State in-charge Krishna Allavaru and those in the war room in Delhi must be immediately removed." Rahul Gandhi should intervene and handle the situation.
'Some decision-making leaders have harmed the organization'
Former candidate Gajanan Shahi, who lost the last assembly election by just 113 votes, expressed strong displeasure over the ticket distribution, saying, "I was not given a ticket this time. We are not against the party, but some decision-making leaders have harmed the organization. We consider Rahul Gandhi a leader and appeal to him to intervene." Meanwhile, former MLA Bunty Chaudhary said, "The Congress party today is dominated by those who have caused the most harm to the party. We are not against the party, but against such leaders."
Several senior and former Congress representatives were present at the meeting, including former Legislative Councilor Ajay Kumar Singh, Nagendra Prasad Vikal, Rajkumar Rajan, Sudha Mishra, Kaisar Khan, and Wasi Akhtar. They all demanded that the party leadership review the ticket distribution and change the leadership.
