Bihar Assembly Elections-2025: With the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections coming up, political parties are doing everything they can to win. They're not just focusing on forming alliances and choosing candidates, but also trying new ways to attract voters. Tejashwi Yadav, the leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Bihar's opposition leader, is once again in the spotlight with his political moves.
The divorce case between RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav's eldest son, Tej Pratap Yadav, and his wife, Aishwarya Rai, is currently pending in court. However, Tej Pratap Yadav has been expelled from the Lalu family and the party.
Meanwhile, Tejashwi Yadav has now given the RJD ticket for the Parsa Assembly constituency in Saran district to Karishma Rai, who is Tej Pratap Yadav's sister-in-law. Karishma Rai is preparing to contest the Parsa Assembly seat on an RJD ticket.
This choice has highlighted tensions within the Lalu family. Now that she has been selected, Karishma Rai is getting ready for the election in Parsa. Karishma Rai told reporters, "I thank Tejashwi Yadav, Lalu Prasad Yadav, Rabri Devi, and Misa Didi for believing in me. The RJD respects all women. No one in Bihar compares to Tejashwi Yadav, and everyone knows this. Bihar is fully behind Tejashwi."
Who is Karishma Rai?
Karishma Rai is the granddaughter of former Bihar Chief Minister Daroga Prasad Rai. Tej Pratap was married to Aishwarya Rai, the daughter of former minister Chandrika Rai, the younger son of Daroga Rai, but their relationship deteriorated after some time.
Karishma Rai also sought a ticket from the RJD in the 2020 assembly elections, but was denied one. Due to the ongoing case between Tej Pratap and his wife Aishwarya, the Lalu family denied Karishma a ticket. Now, the question arises: is this decision by Tejashwi to exercise political damage control or a strategy to retain Yadav votes?
