Bihar Assembly Election-2025: Bhojpuri film actor and singer Khesari Lal Yadav will contest the assembly elections from Chhapra as an RJD candidate.
Khesari will contest the election in place of his wife Chanda Yadav. In fact, RJD had given Chanda Devi ticket from Chhapra. Khesari had told the media on Wednesday that he was persuading his wife to contest the election. However, it is now being reported that due to a technical glitch, Khesari himself will file his nomination from Chhapra on the RJD symbol instead of his wife.
Bhojpuri actor and singer Shatrughan Kumar, also known as Khesari Lal Yadav, hails from Dhanadih in Rasulpur, Saran district. After making a mark in the Bhojpuri film industry, he has now entered politics.
Khesari Lal Yadav had been in constant contact with senior RJD leaders to ensure his wife Chanda Devi's election as an MLA. RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav and former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav approved Chanda Yadav's ticket on Wednesday night. But, there was a technical problem regarding Chanda's voter list.
Announcing this on Facebook, he wrote, "I, Khesari Lal Yadav, your son and brother, am contesting from the Chhapra assembly seat this time."
Earlier, Khesari Lal Yadav, along with his wife Chanda Yadav, joined the Rashtriya Janata Dal on Thursday.
Several senior party leaders, including RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, were present on the occasion.
Khesari Lal Yadav told reporters, "I have been a part of the ideology of the RJD and this family since the beginning."
He said, "My goal has been to ensure that the future of the children of Bihar is secured, just as I am providing good schools, good hospitals, and a proper upbringing for my own children."
"Our children shouldn't have to go abroad. You've all seen the work done in the last 17 months. There is a need for change, and I want to be a part of that change. I've joined to contribute to a better government."
On this occasion, Tejashwi Yadav said, "We have a new mindset and we want to build a new Bihar. We aim for a government in Bihar that provides education, income, healthcare, irrigation, support, and action."
