New revelations are emerging every day about Chaitanyananda Saraswati, arrested for molesting female students at the Sri Sharda Institute of Indian Management and Research in Vasant Kunj, Delhi. The police investigation has recovered obscene chats and objectionable photos from his mobile phone, making the entire case even more serious.
Chaitanyananda had installed cameras in girls' bathrooms
Chaitanyananda Saraswati had installed cameras in the hostel corridors, outside the female students' rooms, and bathrooms to keep an eye on the female students.
Chaitanyananda constantly watched live footage from these cameras on his mobile phone and monitored the female students' activities. About 75 female students studying management courses lived in the hostel. Chaitanyananda also had his own private residence on the same campus.
Several footages were deleted
During the investigation, the police seized the DVR and hard disks of the CCTV cameras installed in the hostel for examination. According to sources, several footages were tampered with and deleted from the DVR system.
According to the FIR lodged at the Vasant Kunj North police station, the accused, Chaitanyananda, would often call female students to his room at night and threaten to withhold their degrees if they disobeyed. This caused the students to suffer from mental stress. The police investigation also implicates an associate dean at the institute.
Students were not allowed to meet their parents
The students allege that Chaitanyananda pressured them to comply with his unreasonable demands. They also allege that they were not allowed to meet their parents. Even if a parent visited, the student was intimidated so that she revealed nothing to her parent.
Would send obscene messages to the girls
According to the police, Chaitanyananda would send obscene messages to the girls. In one chat, he even asked a student, "A Sheikh from Dubai is looking for a partner. Do you have any friends?" Such messages not only shocked the students but also stunned the investigating officers.
Photos and screenshots with air hostesses found
The investigation also revealed photos with several air hostesses and screenshots of the girls' WhatsApp DPs on his mobile phone. Police say Chaitanyananda, along with two female associates, worked to seduce and entice the women.
Police sources said he would only respond when questioned strictly and presented with evidence. His numerous frauds and illegal activities are being exposed. He was arrested Saturday night from a hotel in Agra, where he was hiding to avoid police.
