India-US Relations: What External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said about trade deal with America? Is there any progress?

India-US Relations: Tensions have been brewing between India and the United States for several months. US President Donald Trump is unhappy with India for buying oil from Russia and issues related to trade.

However, Indian Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar said that despite these tensions, the relationship between India and the US is still strong, and they will find a way to resolve their differences soon.

Dr. Jaishankar said that there are ongoing disagreements about trade. He explained that they have not yet reached a final deal, which has led the US to impose tariffs (taxes) on India. India has maintained that these tariffs are unfair. Discussions with the US continue on certain issues.

Jaishankar also noted that another type of tariff has been imposed on energy purchases from Russia. According to Dr. Jaishankar, other countries with more complex relations with Russia than India have still made such purchases.

Jaishankar emphasized that all these issues need to be resolved, and India is actively working on them. India has indicated it will reduce its oil trade with Russia compared to its previous level.

Concluding his speech, Foreign Minister Dr. Jaishankar emphasized that in the current environment of global instability, it is crucial to maintain continuity in international cooperation, dialogue, and agreements. With this in mind, India is playing an active role on international platforms.
