India's star archer Jyothi Surekha Vennam has become the first Indian female compound archer to win a medal at the Archery World Cup Final.

World number three Jyothi achieved this feat by defeating Britain's Ella Gibson 150-145 in the bronze medal match. She displayed her impressive form by scoring 15 consecutive 10s.

Earlier, 29-year-old Jyothi defeated Alexis Ruiz of the United States 143-140 in the quarterfinals, but lost to world number one Andrea Becerra of Mexico by a narrow 143-145 margin in the semifinals.\

She led 87-86 through three rounds, but Bcerra scored three consecutive 10s in the fourth round to seal the match.

This was Jyoti's 88th international medal of her career. It was her first podium finish at the Archery World Cup Final. She had previously been eliminated in the opening round in 2022 and 2023.

On the other hand, India suffered a narrow disappointment in the men's category.

Rishabh Yadav lost the bronze medal match to former world champion Mike Schlusser of the Netherlands in a shoot-off after a 147-147 draw.
