New Aadhaar card rules come into effect on Nov. 1; UIDAI makes these three major changes

If you use your Aadhaar card for things like opening a bank account, getting a SIM card, or receiving government help, pay attention! The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has announced new rules for Aadhaar cards that will effective from November 1, 2025. These changes will affect everyone.

New Fees Apply

Updating your Aadhaar card details online will be simpler, but there will be new fees. You can change your name, address, date of birth, and mobile number online without going to an Aadhaar center, unless you need to update your fingerprints or iris. The new system will connect with other government databases, making it faster and reducing paperwork.

Link Your PAN and Aadhaar

You must link your PAN (Permanent Account Number) with your Aadhaar by December 31, 2025. If you don’t, your PAN will stop working from January 1, 2026. This rule aims to prevent fake PAN cards and fraud. If you fail to link them, you might face issues with your bank or investment accounts.

Revised Fees

Starting October 1, 2025, the fees for updating Aadhaar will be as follows.

Rs 75 for name, address, date of birth, or mobile/email updates

Rs 125 for biometric updates (fingerprint/iris/photo)

Free for children aged 5-7 years and 15-17 years

Rs 700 for the first person in home enrollment, Rs 350 for each additional person
