MP: What CM Mohan Yadav Told About Cheetah Reintroduction Plans after Releasing Crocodiles in Narmada
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that Madhya Pradesh is the origin of many rivers, truly the ‘Nadiyon Ka Mayaka’. Blessed by nature, the state provides a safe habitat for all forms of life, terrestrial, aquatic and aerial.
Speaking to the media after releasing crocodiles into the sacred waters of Maa Narmada at Omkareshwar in Khandwa, CM Dr. Mohan Yadav said that crocodiles, regarded as the vehicle of Maa Narmada, are found in several regions of Madhya Pradesh. On this occasion, Forest Minister Dr. Kunwar Vijay Shah was also present.
CM Dr. Mohan Yadav informed that efforts are now underway to release cheetahs in the Nauradehi Sanctuary as well. He stated that cheetahs had disappeared from Asia long ago and although several countries attempted to reintroduce them, India has achieved this remarkable feat. The historic cheetah reintroduction began at Kuno Palpur and later at Gandhi Sagar and now Nauradehi will become the next sanctuary to host cheetahs brought from Namibia, Africa.
Six crocodiles released into the Narmada
CM Dr. Mohan Yadav further said that six crocodiles, four females and two males, have been released into the Narmada River. He added that gharials and crocodiles are found in several rivers of the state, including the Chambal, Son, and Bargi.
Highlighting the importance of water-based ecosystems, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that they play a vital role in protecting the environment. Just as Maa Narmada blesses everyone, may she also bless her vehicle, the crocodile, ensuring the continuation of natural cleanliness and ecological balance.
CM congratulated the people of the state on this auspicious occasion and extended greetings ahead of Madhya Pradesh Foundation Day.
