By October 26th, this low-pressure area is predicted to strengthen into a deep depression. It will then turn into a cyclonic storm over the Bay of Bengal by the morning of October 27th.
Landfall expected on Oct 28 evening or night
Expected Impact on Andhra Coast The storm is likely to become a severe cyclonic storm by the morning of October 28. It is expected to make landfall near Kakinada, between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam, on the evening or night of October 28th. Wind speeds could reach 90-100 km/h, with gusts up to 110 km/h.
Heavy Rain in Tamil Nadu and Jharkhand
Heavy rain and storms are also expected along the coasts of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. Areas in Tamil Nadu, including Tiruvallur, Chennai, and several others, may experience heavy rainfall, lightning, and thunderstorms. Ooty recorded 14 cm of rain in the last 24 hours.
Jharkhand is also under a yellow alert for heavy rain on October 29th and 30th, affecting districts like Simdega and East Singhbhum.
Advice for Fishermen
Winds of 35 to 45 km/h, with gusts up to 55 km/h, are expected along the Tamil Nadu and southern Andhra Pradesh coasts. Fishermen are advised not to go out to sea between October 25th and 29th. The Coast Guard has reached out to sailors and fishermen at sea, urging them to return to port.
Weather in North and Central India
Heavy rain is expected in South and East India due to weather systems in the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal. No rain is expected in Bihar on October 26, but light to moderate rain may occur from October 29 to 31.
