Delhi Air Pollution: GRAP-3 curbs lifted in NCR, has the capital's air quality improved?

🎧 Listen:

Delhi Air Pollution: The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has lifted all restrictions imposed under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP)-3 in Delhi-NCR.

This information was given by Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Environment Minister of the Delhi Government.

He said, "GRAP-3 has been lifted by the CAQM. GRAP-2 restrictions will remain in place in Delhi."

Delhi's 24-hour average Air Quality Index (AQI) was 327 on Wednesday.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that air quality will remain in the "very poor" category.

There has been a slight improvement in Delhi's air quality over the past three days. An AQI of 201-300 is considered poor, and Stage 1 of GRAP is implemented during this period.

Stage-2 is implemented in case of AQI 301 to 400, Stage-3 in AQI 401-500 and Stage-4 when AQI crosses 450.

AQI showing a downward trend from past few days

Delhi’s daily average AQI has been showing a downward trend from past few days as it was 391 on 23rd November, 382 on 24th November, 353 on 25th November and today (26th November) it clocked 327 as per the AQI Bulletin provided by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). Noting a downward trend in the AQI levels of Delhi, the CAQM Sub-Committee on GRAP met on Wednesday to review the current air quality scenario in the region.

It took an appropriate call to revoke the preventive/ restrictive actions under Stage-III of GRAP in place in the entire National Capital Region (NCR) since 11 November 2025, when the AQI had breached the 400 mark.

While GRAP Stage-III is being revoked, keeping in view the winter season when weather conditions may not be always favourable and in order to ensure that the AQI levels do not slip further, citizens are requested to strictly adhere to the citizen charter under Stages II and I of the extant schedule of GRAP.
