A massive explosion near the Red Fort Metro Station in the capital Delhi on Sunday evening shook the entire city. Thirteen people have been confirmed dead so far, while several injured are admitted to LNJP Hospital

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has condoled the loss of lives in the blast."Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones in the blast in Delhi earlier this evening. May the injured recover at the earliest. Those affected are being assisted by authorities. Reviewed the situation with Home Minister Amit Shah Ji and other officials", Modi said.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the blast originated in an Eco van, which then ignited fire in three other vehicles parked nearby. The sudden explosion caused panic in the area, filling the air with smoke.

Upon receiving the information, teams from the Delhi Police Special Cell, the NIA (National Investigation Agency), and the Bomb Disposal Squad arrived at the scene. The entire area has been sealed off, and the police are investigating. 

Forensic experts are collecting evidence from the scene to determine the nature of the blast and identify the explosives used. Investigating agencies are not ruling out the possibility of a terrorist plot and are looking for clues from every angle.

Since the Red Fort and its surrounding area are a historic and crowded area, security forces have been put on high alert. Delhi Police has appealed to people not to go to the area and to avoid rumours.
